National Edge Day

Don’t worry. I’m not here to lecture you. I just wanted to share this little known holiday, information pills if you will, that celebrates what is known as the straightedge lifestyle.

To put it quickly, it stems from the hardcore movement (though it is definitely expanded since then), and it basically is the culture of abstaining from alcohol, tobacco and other recreational drugs. At times it has expanded to abstaining from promiscuous sex, caffeine and prescription drugs and becoming vegetarian/vegan.

If you haven’t figured it out by now, I am straightedge. I have I abstained from drugs and cigarettes my entire life and have abstained from alcohol for the past five years.

I am not one of those pushy people who get in people’s faces about drinking or drugs. I believe it is your life and your body and it is your choice on how to act. I don’t judge anyone.

I will say, though, on this day, that straightedge is such a viable and amazing option. In high school, and right after high school, I was into partying and drinking and I thought that was the pinnacle of fun. Since becoming straightedge and dating t boyfriend, I’ve had more fun that I could have imagined.

My point is, it’s your body and your life and the beauty of life is having the choices we have, to abstain or not abstain. It’s your choice. But I will say one thing: never ever feel that you need to drink or do drugs or any of that because you feel the need to fit in. Do it because its your actual choice to do, or don’t do it because you don’t want. Know that there are plenty of people out there who will accept you no matter what choice you make.

You don’t need these substances to have fun. They can compliment your fun but never substitute them for fun. You are awesome people and I’m sure you’re fun no matter what you do :)

The Tuesday Three

I know, healing I’m the worst blogger in the entire world. I totally introduce the idea of a weekly post called the Tuesday Three and I haven’t done it in weeks. I’m horrible. My only excuse is that I’ve been working hard in school and working hard to bring you awesome blog posts.

So here it is: The Tuesday Three :D

 1. Arrow: The Season Premiere

Okay, can I just say that my motivation for this show half about the fact that it was a superhero show and half about the main character, Oliver Queen, is portrayed by the extremely sexy Stephen Amell. I mean, have you seen the guy with his shirt off? No? Just look at the picture above and that will be enough to entice you at least a little bit. Not really into dudes? Okay, well, go ahead and look at Katie Cassidy, who plays the female lead, Laurel Lance. Now, of course, Oliver Queen is a billionaire playboy until a tramatic event (a shipwreck that leaves him stranded and preceived dead for five years) changes his outlook on life. He returns to Starling City, ready to right the wrongs that the rich, including his own family, have done to the city. The first episode follows him as he takes down Adam Hunt, a corrupt billionaire. The story is a bit cliche and corny so far but the action is there, the sexiness is there and the story has enough to keep me interested. So far, I’m ready to watch every Wednesday night.

2. The Walking Dead season 3 premiere

Season Two leaves us off with a super pissed off Rick. Rick did what he had to do; he had to kill Shane, his best friend. And yet everyone reacts like he made the biggest mistake ever, including his stupid wife, Lori (come on, I can’t be the only one who wants to punch her in face…). Rick is over being Mr. Nice Guy and he is taking over this group. Season three fast forwards a good amount. Lori is SUPER pregnant, ready to pop, the group has survived the winter, pillaging abandoned houses, Maggie and Glenn are still together and somehow, Carl and Carol are trusted with guns. I liked the beginning of this season because of all the zombie fighting, and the whole idea of the jail becoming a safe haven for them. I’m still annoyed at Lori; I kind of want to tell her to shut up. I miss Good Guy Rick. But I’m intrigued at how the prison is going to work out; its crawling with walkers and now there are actual surviving prisoners in there too. Can’t wait to see where it goes!

3. Once Upon a Time: Episode Three

The first two episodes of the season had made me very very nervous. I liked them, don’t get me wrong. I was all giddy at the awkwardness between Emma and Snow and Charming. I do entirely love this show. But Aurora was annoying me and Mulan was kind of a random, weird character. Episode Three, however, totally changed my mind. There were three different stories going on: Storybrooke, the Enchanted Forest and the flashback of the Enchanted Forest. Henry is spending his time in Storybrooke, trying to figure out a way to make the hat work again. Snow and Emma are trying to figure out a way to get back to Storybrooke, with the help of Aurora, Mulan and Lancelot and, in flashbacks, Snow and Charming are trying to take back the kingdom until Charming’s mother is poisoned. I loved the interlocking stories again; I live for those flashbacks. I also liked that Emma and Snow were finally starting to make a little bit of a connection! And Snow got to be badass again. That was great. I almost cried at the reunion between Jefferson (the Mad Hatter) and his daughter, Grace. THE FEELS! And the fact that Cora, Regina’s mother, is up to no good…well, I just can’t wait til next week.

See you all next week for the Tuesday Three :) Whats been rocking your nerd world this week?

My Top 11 Favorite Fictional Pairings

Today’s post is going to get a little corny. Why? One, sale because I’m in love and I have been for a very, information pills very long time and it makes me feel a little corny. And two, patient this is my blog so I’m pretty sure I’m allowed to do whatever I want.

So recently I finished the third novel in the Heros of Olympus series, Mark of Athena, and one of my favorite pairings in all the books that I’ve read is the Percabeth pairing: Percy and Annabeth. I waited allllll through the Olympians series for those to finally get together and when they did, I was so happy. And now that we’re seeing them as a couple in Mark of Athena….its the cutest thing in the entire world.

I mean, yeah, of course I read books because they are fun and adventurous and I like to be transported into a different world and because books make me think and they give me things to think about and they help me discover my own morals and values. I read for those and so many more reasons.

But, come on, you can’t sit here and tell me that you don’t read books and just wish and wish for so-and-so to finally fall in love with their one true love, so-and-so.

So, since I’m being corny and silly today, I’m going to talk about my favorite book pairings. Some of you will agree, some of you will look at me like I’m crazy person. I’ll repeat what I said earlier, my blog, my rules :D

11. Gemma and Kartik-A Great and Terrible Beauty

The biggest reason why I loved Gemma and Kartik’s relationship was the slow build up of it. Nothing happens until the third book in the series, The Sweet Far Thing. I love that they are from two totally different social circles-Gemma is an English girl, preparing for her debut into society while Kartik is an Indian boy, looking for his place in the world-and yet they fall in love and yet they work together to beat Circe and to create peace in the realms with the magic. They’re relationship is so sweet and every single time they kiss or hold hands or open up to each other, I was squealing all happily. Spoiler alert: right when they finally are together, they finally are going to be together and Kartik sacrifices himself for Gemma…I was dying. TEARS!

“Kartik puts his hands on either side of my face. “To each his own magic,” he says and kisses me again.”

10. Snow and Charming-Once Upon a Time

I love this relationship between Snow White and Prince Charming much better than the original stories or the Disney version (though I do like both! Don’t get me wrong!) One, Ginnifer Goodwin is badass as Snow and Josh Dallas is sexy as hell as Prince Charming. But the best part is, yeah Snow is a damsel in distress and needs the prince to save her. But the more and more you watch the show, you see how much Snow saves Charming as well. You see how much they love each other in the flashbacks in the enchanted forest and its so hard to watch their Maine counterparts, Mary Margaret and David, screwing up over and over. The best moment ever was when the curse was broken and they are finally brought back together. True love conquers all. Sigh.

“Let’s take back the kingdom like we should do all things…together.”

9. Katniss and Peeta-The Hunger Games

One of the biggest reasons that I love this pairing is because Katniss is such a badass and she fights this kind of emotion and affection over and over again. And she is mean as hell to Peeta, even when she is trying to save his life. Oh and Peeta, he is so sweet and he loves Katniss so much. No matter what she throws at him, he just takes it and continues to love her. And for someone who is pretty difficult herself (yeah, I said it), its like, hey, if Peeta can love Katniss even though she is one messed up girl, then a girl like me can be loved too (oh and believe I am).

“I just want to spend every possible minute of the rest of my life with you.”

8. Aly and Nawat-Trickster Series

Aly and Nawat also kind of remind of Katniss and Peeta, but instead of being kind of a bitch, Aly is a lot stronger and has a damn good reason for keeping her distance from Nawat. Nawat is a crow turned into a man and is sweet and loving toward Aly. And Aly has finally found a man who can keep up with her and keeps her interested, but she’s in the middle of a rebellion and she’s the rebellion spymaster. And once they really are together, it works in the best way possible because it’s at the best time for both of them, the right time.

“Nawat turned his head sideways and pressed his lips to Aly’s. His mouth was soft and warm, his breath lightly scented with spices, his smell clean, with hints of beeswax and wood oils from his work. Aly’s usually distant and observing mind focused completely on the feeling of his mouth against hers.”

7. Tessa and Will-Infernal Devices series

Okay, let’s just be clear on this: in the first Infernal Devices, Clockwork Angel, I hated William Herondale with a burning passion and I loathed that Tessa was already so in love with him. He was so mean, so incredibly cruel to her. Then in Clockwork Prince, when you learn that Will is cursed, and everyone who loves him will die, and that’s the reason he is so mean to Tessa, because he loves her so much that he can’t stand to see that happen to her. And suddenly, this girl was on Team Will. That is so insanely romantic and I just wanted Will to get that curse lifted so damn much so he could finally tell Tessa that he loved her. And then you find out he was never cursed and he runs to tell Tessa but its too late, she’s engaged to Jem and I just wanted to cry. I actually might have cried…all I gotta say is, Wlll and Tessa. Will Herondale. They better end up together. I have to wait til March to find out but they better.

“Don’t say that.” His voice was half a whisper. “I love you, Tessa. I love you.”

 6. The Doctor and Rose Tyler-Doctor Who

I know the Doctor is supposed to be free of this sort of thing, but hey, the 11th Doctor marries River Song so whatever. The 10th Doctor is made to be with Rose Tyler. They were meant to be together. They were on the same page the entire time they were together. They had the same humor and they made an amazing team. Majority of my favorite Who episodes have been with Rose and Ten. They have such an underlying romantic relationship, it builds slowly and they never are actually together. But its there, and you’re waiting, every single moment of an episode waiting for it to finally happen. Worst ending for a couple ever…stuck in two different universes.

The Doctor: “How long are you going to stay with me?”
Rose: “Forever.”

5. Princess Leia and Han Solo-Star Wars

I think everyone probably thought that Leia and Luke were going to end up together, you know, before the whole finding out they are brother and sister thing. It seems right. Luke is the hero, the future Jedi Knight and Princess Leia is the princess, the heroine. Han is the scoundrel, the bad boy. And the fact that the bad boy gets the girl is pretty awesome. Princess Leia isn’t exactly the damsel in distress: she can handle a blaster pretty well and she can handle pretty much anything that is thrown her way. If anyone is going to be able to handle Princess Leia, its Han Solo…and vice versa. Plus Harrison Ford is pretty hot.

“Princess Leia: I love you
Han Solo: I know”

4. Mia and Michael-The Princess Diaries series

I started reading this series when I was 13 years old, so I had some crazy weird ideas about relationships and love and all that crazy stuff. I was a bit too young to even be thinking about love, haha. But as I grew older, I started to appreciate Mia and Michael’s relationship more and more. And I wanted it to happen to me more and more. Mia is awkward, nerdy, a good friend, trying to figure stuff out, but freaking out and worrying during most of it. Her favorite thing in the world is writing too. She literally is me. It’s insane how much she is me…except for the whole 5’9 and no boobs thing. And Michael is nerdy too, and he’s smart as hell (can we say majoring in chemistry), tutors Mia in math, musically talented and sweet and ugh, I wanted him bad. So I adore their relationship…and I’ve learned to love it even more since dating my boyfriend. My boyfriend is nerdy, incredibly smart (majoring in math), helps me with my own math homework and is insanely musically talented :D

“Mia,” he said, looking down at me with his dark eyes filled with something I was almost afraid to put a name to, and his chest going all up and down like he’d just been runnin. His hands were in my hair. He was cradling my head. ‘You have to know. You have to know I lo-‘”

3. Percy and Annabeth-The Olympians/Heroes of Olympus

Oh Percy Jackson. I loved him from the moment I read about him. He is insanely loyal from the start, starting with Grover, and Annabeth, and his mother, and everyone in Camp Half-Blood, and then Camp Jupiter and so on. He’s a troublemaker and has that sarcastic wit, which makes him sexy as hell. Plus the whole dark hair, blue eyes thing (see: Jake Kennedy in my new novel). And there’s Annabeth, who is badass, and smart and wants to build amazing buildings and kicks ass. Put those two together, and you have an awesome, awesome couple.

“Afterward, I had the last laugh. I made an air bubble at the bottom of the lake. Our friends kept waiting for us to come up, but hey-when you’re the son of Poseidon, you don’t have to hurry. And it was pretty much the best underwater kiss of all time.”

2. Clary and Jace-The Mortal Instruments

I don’t know how much more I can tell you, my little followers, how much I love Jace Lightwood. He’s sexy as hell, and sarcastic and funny, in a dry way, and he fights so hard over and over again. And Clary, I want to hate her because I want Jace but I love her too. She is dramatic and all over the place and messy but she’s sixteen-years-old and she is supposed to be. But despite that, she does everything she can to save her mom, and save the Shadowhunters and the Downworlders. And she’s pretty badass with her rune-creating. I was pissed as hell when it came to light that they were brother and sister…and then it came out that they weren’t and they could be together and I was like HELL YES! Man, they were the most dramatic, most tumultous relationship but they were meant to be from the beginning. And some of the stuff that came out of Jace’s mouth just made me want to melt.

“There is no pretending,” Jace said, with absolute clarity. “I love you, and I will love you until I die, and if there is life after that, I’ll love you then.”

1. Ron and Hermione-Harry Potter series

All right, all you Harry and Hermione shippers, you can shut up. I wanted Hermione and Ron from the beginning. Harry and Hermione seemed obvious: the Boy Who Lived and the smartest witch ever. There was way too much going on there. I just didn’t see that working out at all. But Ron…Ron is my favorite character in the HP universe and he’s so wonderful and funny and loyal but flawed just like any other normal person in the world. And he loves and adores Hermione but has no idea to tell her or go about it. I mean, isn’t this how we all felt at some point in time when talking to the one we love? He’s so relatable. And Hermione loves him back, no matter the flaws. I waited ten damn years for this to finally work out so I leapt for joy when it finally happened.

“There was a clatter as the basilisk fangs cascaded out of Hermione’s arms. Running at Ron, she flung them around his neck and kissed him full on the mouth. Ron threw away the fangs and broomstick he was holding and responded with such enthusiasm that he lifted Hermione off her feet.”

What do you all think of my list? Do you agree with some, disagree with others? Do you have some better pairings that maybe I didn’t think of? As always, let me know in the comments.

National Coming Out Day!

Now some of you may know this but yesterday was National Coming Out Day. I really love this day because it really encourages everyone, site straight, check gay, viagra 40mg lesbian, bi to be themselves and to accept themselves and to be accepting of others. I loved reading all the tweets, seeing all the pictures on Instagram and the posts on Facebook celebrating this day. It’s wonderful to see all the people who are so proud of who they are.

And then I realized that I should do the same. I should.

I have been lucky enough to find the perfect guy for me. He is amazing and we have been together for nearly five years. He is funny and insanely smart and super musically talented. He supports me through anything, good and bad, and knows me better than anyone. He gets my nerdiness, the cosplays and the stakeouts and midnight premieres and crying over fictional characters.I can’t want to marry this boy, I couldn’t ask for anyone better.

But there has been something I had been hiding for awhile from everyone I knew. I eventually got up the nerve to tell my boyfriend, my best friend and my sisters, who are very much like my best friends, and they have been so supportive. So now I tell you, and whomever reads this blog. I know that it’s not the best way to say it but I’m a writer and that’s the best way I know how.

But basically, on the day after National Coming Out Day, I’m finally coming out as a bisexual. I am proud to be one and I’m not hiding it any longer. I am attracted to both men and women. This changes nothing about my relationship because I love my boyfriend more than anything and he has been so insanely supportive of this. And whether or not it ever changes anything, I wanted it to be said. You should never have to hide something about yourself. If there is one thing that I’ve learned over the years from reading all these books and watching all these shows and movies and reading even more books, it’s that the best thing in the world to be is to be yourself. And I watched all those people yesterday, being so proud of who they were, I knew that I had to be too. And I definitely am.

I hope so much that my declaration doesn’t scare people away but if it does, then maybe you weren’t the person for this blog in the first place :) Here at whatanerdgirlsays, we accept everyone, no matter what you are.

And I hope that you can too :)

Look for some awesome posts coming soon :) I review the new show, Arrow, I talk to a friend who is an extra for some of your favorite TV shows and I just keep sharing the nerd!!

Book of the Week: Mark of Athena

Hello, case all. Are you happy that its Friday? I know that I definitely am! Weekends are amazing. The best part of this weekend? Southern California finally got some rain today, website and some lovely fall weather! After weeks and weeks of extremely hot weather, here it was so nice to finally get some cold weather! I’m stoked on it.

You know what else comes along with fall, it seems like? Besides colder weather and new boots and sweaters and Thanksgiving and new TV shows? New book releases. I’ve already blown through J.K. Rowling’s new book, The Casual Vacancy, and Jen Calonita’s new book in her Belles series, Winter White. Now we’re going to talk about another recent release…our book of the week.

Mark of Athena by Rick Riordan

Rick Riordan may have started off writing books for children, just the way J.K. Rowling did, but to me, he has definitely roped in adults as well. His stories are fun, adventurous, relatable and addicting. He is most famous for his Percy Jackson and the Olympians series (The Lightning Thief, The Sea of Monsters, The Titan’s Curse, The Battle of the Labyrinth and The Last Olympian), which chronicle Percy Jackson’s discovery of being a demigod-the son of Poseidon-and his quests to keep the Titan, Kronos, from resurrecting and taking down the gods of Olympus. His home is Camp Half-Blood, where demigods can go to be safe and to train, and his best friends are Annabeth Chase, daughter of Athena, and Grover Underwood, a satyr.

The newer series is called the Heroes of Olympus. The Lost Hero is about a new demigod, Jason Grace, the son of Jupiter (Roman version of Zeus) and his friends Piper, daughter of Aphrodite, and Leo, son of Hephaestus, and their own entrance into this world. Jason doesn’t remember who he is and winds up at Camp Half-Blood, brought there by Annabeth Chase, who is looking for her missing boyfriend, Percy, and then a quest to find and free Hera, who has been kidnapped. At the end of the story, once Hera has been saved, Jason full gets his memory back. He came from a camp called Camp Jupiter, the Roman equivalent of the Greek Camp Half-Blood, and it is revealed that there is a prophecy, a prophecy of seven demigods, a mix of Roman and Greek, who are going to defeat the earth mother, Gaia and that Percy has probably ended up at Camp Jupiter.

The second novel in the series is The Son of Neptune, where we find Percy Jackson, lost of his memory of all his previous adventures and of everything that he is, except for one thing, one name: Annabeth. Soon he finds his way to Camp Jupiter and makes friends with Frank, son of Mars (Roman equivalent of Ares) and Hazel, daughter of Pluto (Roman equivalent of Hades). They embark on a quest to free Thanatos, death itself, from Gaia’s clutches. Just as with Jason, Percy gets his memories back and the book ends with the arrival of the Camp Half-Blood demigods showing up.

Now that I’ve caught you up for the most part (though I really, seriously, definitely recommend reading the first two), I’m ready to talk about the third installment of the series, Mark of Athena. Mark of Athena opens up at the end of The Son of Neptune, with Annabeth on the deck of the Argo II, looking out at Camp Jupiter, feeling pretty excited to be reunited with Percy. As the Greeks and Romans attempt to reconcile and work together, Leo, posessed by some spirits, bombs the Roman camp, causing Leo, Hazel, Frank, Percy, Annabeth, Piper and Jason to flee, setting off their quest, the seven of the prophecy. They embark on their way across the United States, on their way to Rome, where they have to save Nico di Angelo, Hazel’s brother, and defeat two giants. Annabeth is on a mission for her mother to follow the Mark of Athena, to finally bring peace between the Roman and the Greek demigods.

In the end, they rescue Nico, and defeat the two giants with the help of their camp director, Dionysus, in his Roman form, Bacchus. Annabeth has gone off her own, to find the statue of Athena to bring it back to its rightful place. The demigods of Camp Jupiter are headed to Camp Half-Blood on the warpath.

Spoiler Alert!! If you don’t want to know the end, then stop reading. The demigods attempt to rescue the statue of Athena, but as they are doing so, the floor begins to crumble and Annbeth and Percy fall, together, holding hands, into the pit of Tartarus, promising to meet them on the other side, to close the doors of death.

The Good or Bad:

This book was amazing! I loved it and the best part was meeting up with some of my friends for a book club lunch to talk about it. There were soooo many good things about this book.

One, Percabeth. Percy and Annabeth. Their relationship was barely blossoming at the end of The Last Olympian, when they shared the best underwater kiss ever. So their reunion is awesome, and something we’ve been waiting for in two other books. The fact that they embraced and then Annabeth flipped him over her shoulder and threatened him to never leave her again.

Two, Piper. There wasn’t much of Jason in this one and I’m kind of okay with that. I’m glad Piper and Jason are together because I’m corny and I love relationships haha. But I wasn’t the biggest fan of Piper before, probably because I love Annabeth so much. But Piper becomes badass in this one, using her charmspeak to save the day and coming up with awesome plans and all of that.

Three, there’s a part where Annabeth, Piper and Hazel are surrounded and there’s no way to get out of the situation, no way to call the others, who are in other parts of Charleston or underwater (Percy). So Annabeth drops her dagger in the water…and Percy comes up, dousing the enemy with water, and holds up the dagger, in the most poker face ever, “You dropped this.” I freakin LOVE Percy.

Four, Annabeth going on her own to find the Mark of Athena, and how she has to get through all these obstacles to find the statue of Athena. She has to work on her own, through some crazy things, weaving away from spiders, setting said spiders on fire, and tricking Arachne into weaving her own prisoner. Annabeth is badass, she has always badass but this is amazing. Did I mention she does it with a broken ankle?

Fifth, Leo…Leo is adorable. I liked Leo in the Lost Hero but in the Mark of Athena he is that much better. He built the badass Argo II, and kept it running across the United States, the Atlantic Ocean and into Rome. He’s smart and powerful and people tend overlook Leo, maybe because he isn’t paired up or he isn’t the hero of the story. But he is important and without him and his awesome talents, this quest would’ve been an ultimate failure.

So the fourth installment of the series is called The House of Hades and is due to release next fall, in 2013. Too. Far. Away. Especially with the ending that they left us with. Annabeth is being yanked into Tartarus and instead of letting her go, Percy holds on her to and goes with her, because he doesn’t want to be apart from her again (can we say waterworks? Damn you, Rick Riordan). The statue of Athena is rescued and they have a month to stop Gaia from rising and they have to stop Camp Jupiter from obliberating Camp Half-Blood. I can’t wait til the next release, and I seriously recommend to anyone who hasn’t read any of the Percy Jackson books or the Heroes of Olympus to read them. Now. Go. Okay awesome :D

What did you guys think? Let me know what you think, in the comments!

Attention All So Cal Wizards! So Cal Wizarding Weekend!

This a blog for all you Southern California wizards. If you love Harry Potter and you love having a good time, abortion and you live in Southern California (or are close!) then So Cal Wizarding Weekend is the weekend for you!

So Cal Wizarding Weekend is a little less than a month away, taking place on the dates of November 2nd to 4th, with three awesome events to look forward to. One of these events is an  unofficial annual event taking place at the Happiest Place on Earth every November…and now its transformed into an amazing three day event!

Friday, November 2nd will be the Wizarding Weekend Dinner at The Cellar in Fullerton, California. Theere is gong to be a special menu for those who attend this event. It is reservation only! You can go to The Cellar’s website and go to “click to shop” to purchase your tickets to this one of a kind dinner. From what I know of it, its going to be a character dinner with some of your favorite characters making an appearance, similar to a Disney dining experience.

I’m skipping Saturday and moving on to Sunday, because Saturday is a big event and I want to share that last .

On Sunday, November 4th is the unofficial annual Harry Potter Day at Disneyland. This is the 6th annual event, taking place at the good ol Mouse House in Anaheim, California. I’ve never attended this event, which is kind of crazy because I live so close to Disneyland and have had an annual pass for years. It’s amazing that I’ve never been. I know that everyone meets at a certain spot in the beginning of the day, that there are fun scavenger hunts and things like that. They have “first years to the boats” and go on Jungle Cruise or the Mark Twain Riverboat. I’ve heard its a ton of fun and this will be the first year that I’ll be attending and I’m really really looking forward to it. You can find out more information on this particular event at their facebook page here.

The motherload of the events though is the Saturday, November 3rd event: The First Ever Harry Potter Bowling Night, being organized and put together by the amazing people at the Los Angeles Dumbledore’s Army. This event will be taking place at Palos Verdes Bowling Alley in Torrance, California and is going to be a night of seriously awesome amazing nerd fun. Now these are the same people that brought you the first ever Harry Potter Skating Night back in April of this year. This event was off the hook, and it was more than our group expected it to be. Over 600 people showed up and it was a blast! There were cool handmade Potter stuff to buy and butterbeer to drink, a costume contest and plenty of Potter music to skate to!

Now, my amazing group is bringing you Bowling Night. The entire bowling alley is reserved for this event, and there’s going to be so much fun. The pricing is decent, there’s going to be awesome memorabilia again and Butterbeer to enjoy, as well as some unique Potter cocktails for those of you 21 and over. There’s going to be a costume contest and a free raffle contest as well. It’s going to be so much fun and I literally cannot wait for it. There’s more information at the event page on facebook, so make sure to stop by and R.S.V.P with your “yes”! You will regret not attending this amazing event. And if you do manage to stop by, come by the Welcome Witch table to say hi to me! I’ll be the assistant to the Minister of Magical Events and will be stoked if you come by to say hello :D

So there you have it folks, an amazing weekend coming up very very soon that is tailored perfectly for Potterheads here in California. I urge all you Califorians to make an appearance at these events, especially the Bowling Night. You will not regret attending these events. What could be better than getting together with fellow Potterheads and enjoying a good dinner, or partying it up at a bowling alley or hitting the Happiest Place on earth? I can’t think of anything…except maybe a nice slice of chocolate cake…mmmm….well anyway, I hope that you guys check it out, click on any of the links above for more information and feel free to ask me any questions!

And for those of you not in Southern California (or even Central or Northern California willing to make a drive), I urge you to get out there and start some of these awesome events! Hit up your local bowling alley or skating rink or whatever and meet fellow Potterheads or Star Wars nerds or Trekkies or whatever you’re in to! I promise, it’ll be fun :D

Hope to see you all at these awesome events!
